The dots on the stripes appear to be part of the fabric pattern, but the checkered sashes on both costumes are much larger and more eye catching than in the drawing. The sash also seems wider and shows off the checks more clearly. I wonder if the bold pattern of the fabric didn't read as designed and had to be streamlined a bit? Also, are there buttons on the stripes of both costumes? Or perhaps paillettes? Too bad we can't time travel and see how these looked during a performance.
